1.1. Establishment and history of Ho Chi Minh Museum

After President Ho Chi Minh passed away in 1969, according to the wishes of Vietnamese people, Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum and Ho Chi Minh Museum were built to honor the great leader. A board in charge of constructing the museum was established in 1970, who began to collect documents and items. The groundbreaking ceremony of the museum was held in 1985, on the 40th anniversary of the August Revolution and also the National Day.

On May 19, 1990, the inauguration ceremony of Ho Chi Minh Museum was solemnly held at the place where he read the Declaration of Independence. Preparations took 20 years to be complete, while the actual construction took place over the course of five years.

From Ba Dinh Square, take Doc Lap Street to a roundabout. Continue onto Chu Van An Street. Turn right onto Le Hong Phong Street. Go for 500 meters more before turning right onto Ngoc Ha Street, where the museum is at. If you go by bus, you can take bus routes number  9, 14, 33, or 45. They all have stops near the museum.
