2. Things to do at Ho Chi Minh Museum in Da Nang

It is advised that you spend 1-2 hours discovering all the corners of Ho Chi Minh Museum, which consists of two main areas: the outdoor and indoor displays.

2.1. Explore the outdoor display area

The highlight of the exterior design of Ho Chi Minh Museum Da Nang is its similarity to the President Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi, resembling the stilt house where the President used to live with a ratio of 1:1. This prominent feature implies the love and gratitude of the local people towards the national hero Ho Chi Minh.

Besides its special shape and structure, the outdoor area amazes you with a display of some historical relics, such as helicopters, anti-aircraft guns, and tanks, all of which were used in wars. You can also spend time relaxing in the garden and feeding fish in the fish pond on the stilt house campus to better understand the simple and tranquil life of President Ho Chi Minh.

2.2. Admire valuable artifacts in the indoor exhibitions

Walking into Ho Chi Minh Museum, visitors will encounter 4 exhibitions of valuable and hard-to-find photos and artifacts, telling a meaningful story about the career and life of a culturally and internationally honored great person – President Ho Chi Minh. Besides, there are 8 exhibition rooms with hundreds of photos praising the bravery of the Fifth Division force, as evidence of the solidarity of the Da Nang people in wartime and their faithfulness to the Socialist Party of Vietnam.

The heroic history of local people is recreated through photos and artifacts displayed in Ho Chi Minh Museum Da Nang. Some are about sacrifice for the sacred country, struggles to gain freedom, or pride in their contribution to the reunification of separated regions.

For example, behind the picture of President Ho Chi Minh given to the museum by Mrs. Dang Thi Kiem, is the story of how hard she tried to protect it from house raiders of the American army. This picture was a gift that her son – a soldier – was given after his 20-day training for a fight. After his sacrifice, Mrs. Dang Thi Kiem kept this picture carefully in a bamboo tube to avoid being detected, as memorabilia from her son, and to show her respect towards Uncle Ho. When Ho Chi Minh Museum in Da Nang was built, she gave the picture back to be exhibited here. Some other admirably brave stories behind the 2-layer shoes of Mr. Ho Le Phuong, and the old sandals of Ms. Phan Thi Mua are the ones you should not ignore in your visit to the museum.
