1. Tu Van Nha Trang Pagoda

  • Location: No. 9, Tran Nhat Duat street, Phuoc Tien ward

Tu Van Pagoda is also known as the Oc Pagoda (Oc means snail in English) or the San Ho Pagoda (San Ho means coral in English) because the works here are all made from coral and snail shells. Its most prominent works are the Bao Tich Tower and the 18 Floors of Hell.

Bao Tich Tower is 39 meters high. It is built with coral and snail shells stacked on top of each other. Surrounding Bao Tich Tower are small towers used to worship Buddha statues.

The work “18 Floors of Hell” is about 500 meters long. Both sides of the narrow path depict people’s crimes and actual punishments, torture scenes, and creepy screams in hell.

2. Truc Lam Tinh Vien Pagoda

Truc Lam pagoda greets numerous monks, nuns, and Buddhists to study. This Nha Trang pagoda has an area of over 33 hectares with three main sections: the main hall, the surrounding pavilions, and areas containing 72 Buddha statues.

Truc Lam Tinh Vien Pagoda features unique architecture. The front of it faces northeast, while its back leans against the cliff. All materials used to build this Nha Trang pagoda are uniquely carved wood. Inside the main hall are statues serving the purpose of worship, horizontal paintings, and couplets carved on the pillars, all delicately painted with gold.

Besides, this Nha Trang pagoda owns a 10-ton Quan Am Nam Hai statue with the image of a 4-meter-high wave at its foot. The figure is compatible with the lighthouse image, implying that it always shines the voyage for fishermen.

3. Suoi Do Pagoda in Nha Trang 

  • Location: on Hoang Nguu mountain, Dien Toan commune, Dien Khanh district

The pagoda is named Suoi Do (stream murmurs in English) because it is located near a stream, mixed with the constant chirping of birds, giving you a relaxing and peaceful feeling. Along the road to this Nha Trang pagoda, you will find majestic nature. The Nha Trang pagoda has two main works: Quan Am Son Tu and Pho Da Son Tu.

Quan Am Son Tu is one of the most sacred works. In the middle of its yard is a statue of Quan The Am (Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara). Inside the main hall are two shrines dedicated to the goddesses Thien Y An Na and Ngu Mau.

Pho Da Son Tu worships Duc Phat (Buddha Amitabha). The natural scenery is captivating here. Behind it is a Tien stream (fairy stream in English), which flows all year round.

4. Long Son Pagoda (Nha Trang White Buddha Pagoda)

  • Location: No. 22, 23/10 street, Phuong Son ward

Long Son Pagoda Nha Trang is the oldest ancient in the city. It is also the lecture hall of the Buddhist intermediate school. The Nha Trang pagoda has an area of 3000 square meters with many kinds of green trees, which brings a feeling of serenity to visitors.

Long Son pagoda has unique architecture and meticulous carvings. Its prominent feature is the largest outdoor white statue of Kim Than Phat To, recognized by the Guinness World Record. The statue is placed on the Buddha base in a meditating posture, and around the base are carved portraits of 7 saints and martyrs. 

Inside the main hall is a bronze statue of Thich Ca Buddha (Shakyamuni Buddha) preaching Dharma. On both sides are the reliefs of Quan The Am (Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara) and Bodhisattva Dai The Chi.

5. Da Bao Nha Trang Pagoda

  • Location: on the Co Tien mountain range, Vinh Hoa ward

Da Bao Pagoda has the highest position compared to other Nha Trang pagodas, so you can fully admire the beauty of Nha Trang Bay. After entering a three-arched entrance gate, you will see three dignified Buddha statues standing on a lotus. 

There is also Tue Giac Vien, a new work built on a lake of lotuses, where you can meditate or enjoy the scenery here before moving to the main hall to worship.

6. Ky Vien Pagoda in Nha Trang

  • Location: 132 Sinh Trung street, Van Thanh ward

Ky Vien pagoda has a long history. According to the pagoda’s epitaph, Ky Vien was originally called Trung Nghia pagoda, built in the early 19th century by Queen Tu Cung and some old villagers. After the restoration in 1990, the pagoda officially changed its name to Ky Vien Trung Nghia. 

The main hall of the Nha Trang pagoda is decorated solemnly to worship Buddha Shakyamuni. It is not only a place for monks and nuns to study or to host summer retreats and Dharma exams but also a destination for many tourists to Nha Trang.

7. Linh Phong Nha Trang Pagoda

  • Location: No. 20 23/10 Street, Phuong Son Ward

Linh Phong Pagoda, also known as Buu Phong Pagoda, was founded in 1974 by monk Truong Giac. The yard of this Nha Trang pagoda has many trees and meticulously carved rocks of various sizes.

The pagoda is divided into five zones: Ta Quan Gate, Loc Uyen Garden, the main hall, Quan Am House, and Quan Thanh Palace. Interestingly, all the pillars inside the pagoda are connected without any screws. The pagoda’s interior is made from wood, carved elaborately with mascots and other unique patterns. 

The Nha Trang pagoda is beside the Tien Du stream, which flows through the peach garden and then pours into Nha Phu Bay, creating charming scenery. 

8. Tu Ton Pagoda Nha Trang

  • Location: on Do Islet, Vinh Tho ward

Tu Ton is on Do islet, which used to be a desert islet with sparse flora. However, thanks to the pagoda, many people visit the islet to explore. The yard of the pagoda is quite large. The unique feature of this Nha Trang pagoda is the red rocky beach surrounding it, which creates an impressive beauty.

In front of the main hall is a very sacred statue of Quan Thai Am (Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara) facing the sea. At the foot of the statue is a rocky beach. According to the locals, some fishermen come here to pray for peace and smooth sailing before each fishing trip.

9. Hai Duc Pagoda Nha Trang

  • Location: No. 42 Hai Duc street, Phuong Son ward

Hai Duc Pagoda is known as the largest Buddhist institute in the Central region of Vietnam. Visitors need to go through many sloppy steps to get to the pagoda. However, there is poetic scenery on both sides for tourists to admire.

When coming to Hai Duc Pagoda, visitors will feel peaceful when setting foot in the yard. Additionally, it will be a fantastic experience to sit with the abbots and listen to historical stories associated with the pagoda over hundreds of years. More significantly, when standing on the highest point of the pagoda, you will be mesmerized by the captivating beauty of the vibrant city of Nha Trang.

10. Nghia Son Pagoda Nha Trang 

  • Location: Phuoc Son village, Phuoc Dong commune

Nghia Son Pagoda is designed according to Japanese architecture. The temple is quite close to the city center, but the scenery here is pure and peaceful, making it suitable for those seeking a tranquil place to escape all of life’s troubles.

The structure of Nghia Son Pagoda includes the main hall, the ancestral house, To tower, Kim Cat Dai, and the Lam Ty Ni garden. When entering the gate, you will see Kim Cat Dai, with typical Japanese architecture. On the right of the work is a statue of Maitreya Buddha sitting on a lotus with a cheerful face. Next will be the ancestral house and garden, with five statues depicting the image of Buddha imparting the Dharma.

The beautiful scenery around the Nha Trang pagoda is a must-see. In the early morning or late afternoon, standing on the top floor of Kim Cat Dai and watching the sun will be an incredibly unforgettable experience.

11. Linh Son Nha Trang Pagoda

  • Location: Hien Luong village, Van Luong commune, Van Ninh district

Linh Son Pagoda is famous for its 300-year-old ancient tree in the yard. Besides paying tribute to the Buddha, many tourists come to discover the uniqueness of this tree. Therefore, the old tree with broad foliage and a big trunk has become a symbol of the pagoda.

The campus of Nha Trang Linh Son Pagoda is very dignified, peaceful, and pure. In front of the pagoda is the Hien Luong River, nearby is a vast rice field; and far away is the image of the towering mountains adjacent to each other, making the pagoda beautiful like no other.
