• For the other route: This route is more challenging, yet the scenery is more beautiful. On this route, your starting point is Hoang Sa Street. Then, head to the Linh Ung Pagoda and go straight to the peak. Along the way, if you want, you can stop to take photos of the beautiful scenery in Da Nang, such as Tien Sa Beach and But Beach.

Legend has it that Ban Co Peak in Da Nang was named after a chess game (meaning “ban co” in Vietnamese). A long time ago on the Son Tra Peninsula, a wandering fairy was mesmerized by the breathtaking scenery of the area. He decided to create a chessboard, and another fairy named De Thich challenged him to a game. For many days, neither could emerge as the winner.

One day, a group of beautiful fairy women arrived to play and swim at the Tien Sa Beach nearby. De Thich was distracted and made a mistake, leading to his defeat. The victorious fairy rode his cloud back to heaven, while De Thich stayed on earth, searching for a way to win the game.

To honor the legend, the locals built a chessboard and a statue of De Thich on the mountain, giving it the name Ban Co Peak.
