2. Development of Gia Dinh Park
Before 1975, Gia Dinh Park was planned to be constructed as a golf course but was later abandoned. In 1978, the city decided to transform the vacant land into a public park, naming it Gia Dinh. Originally, the park covered a larger area. Although having been shrunk, it is known as the “green lung” of Saigon.
