1. Overview of Hai Phong Museum

Hai Phong Museum stands approximately 16 meters tall. The building boasts two floors and a basement, with a total floor area of about 1,200 square meters. Despite undergoing several renovations over the years, Hai Phong City Museum has managed to retain much of its original exterior architecture and fundamental interior layout from over a century ago.

  • Location: 65 Dien Bien Phu Street, Hong Bang District, Hai Phong
  • Opening hour: 8 AM – 11 AM | 2 PM – 5 PM
  • Ticket price: Free of charge

This building was constructed by a Hong Kong business group in 1918. After a period of financial losses, the investor sold the property to a French capitalist. From around 1920, the building was named the French-Chinese Bank. Following the liberation of Hai Phong on May 13, 1955, the building was used as a banking college. In 1958, at the request of the Hai Phong City People’s Committee, the Ministry of Finance repurposed the building as a museum. After a period of renovations, Hai Phong Museum was inaugurated on December 20, 1959.
