1.2. History
In 1929, the History museum of Ho Chi Minh City was a large museum with a long history of development in the southern region of Vietnam. Located in the heart of the City, the museum is a destination that attracts a large number of domestic and international tourists. Ho Chi Minh City museum, formerly Blanchard de la Brosse Museum (named by the governor of Cochinchina), was established in 1929 and was the first museum in the South of Vietnam. Since 1956, the museum had been renamed “Vietnam national museum”, displaying ancient art from nearby Asian countries. On August 23rd 1979, the official name was changed to Ho Chi Minh City History Museum or “History museum of Ho Chi Minh City”.

BC – 179 BC), Northern colonial period (179 BC – 938), Ngo – Dinh – Early Le – Ly dynasties (939 – 1225), Tran – Ho dynasties (from 1226 – 1407), early Le – Mac and Trinh dynasties and Lord Nguyen (1428 – 1788), Tay Son Dynasty (1771 – 1802) and Nguyen Dynasty (1802 – 1945).Topics on the culture of Southern Vietnam as well as some Asian countries: Champa culture (2nd-17th century), Oc Eo culture (1st-7th century), Oc Eo jewelry, stone sculpture Cambodia (9-13 centuries), Duong Ha collection and ancient ceramics from some Asian countries, mummified Xom Cai TP. Ho Chi Minh (19th century), the collection of Vuong Hong Sen, the cultures of the South Vietnamese ethnic groups, Buddhist statues of some Asian countries, cannons, artillery (18-19 centuries), Xang ethnic culture.
