1. Overview of Quan Su Pagoda

For a long time, Quan Su Pagoda has been renowned for its sacredness, exuding a mystical aura to anyone who visits.

1.1. Location

Quan Su Pagoda holds a central position among Hanoi pagodas, situated at 73 Quan Su Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi. Positioned right in the city center, just over 1 kilometer away from Hoan Kiem Lake, visitors can easily get to this sacred site. Amidst the bustling urban area, the pagoda still retains its tranquil charm – offering a serene space that remains deeply sacred, untouched by the bustle of the city’s vibrant surroundings.

1.2. Opening hours

Quan Su Pagoda opens its doors to visitors from 6:00 AM to 7:00 PM every day. On the 1st day of every lunar month, full-moon days, and festival occasions, the pagoda remains open later than usual.

1.3. History

Quan Su Pagoda Hanoi was built in the 14th century under the rule of King Tran Du Tong to accommodate Buddhist envoys visiting the ancient capital of Thang Long (now Hanoi). Originally part of a guesthouse complex called Quan Su, the pagoda was established alongside it to facilitate the envoys’ rituals and ceremonies. Despite the guesthouse no longer standing, Quan Su Pagoda has endured and developed over the centuries, remaining a significant spiritual site in Hanoi.

Here are 5 special things you should know about this famous pagoda.

2.1. The ancient architecture

Quan Su Pagoda has been renovated according to the designs of two highly renowned architects. From the entrance, it exudes an ancient charm characteristic of the Northern region, featuring scale-tile roofs. Notably, the couplets and the name of the pagoda are entirely written in the Vietnamese national script.
