The legend of Lang Biang Mountain is central to the culture of the indigenous K’Ho people in the Central Highlands. The mountain’s name comes from the love story of K’Lang and H’Biang, members of the rival Lat and Chil tribes. 

K’Lang, a strong leader of the Lat tribe, saved H’Biang, the Chil chief’s daughter, from wolves while hunting. They fell in love but faced opposition due to their tribes’ feud. Defying tradition, they met secretly on the mountain, pledging eternal devotion. Tragically, they both died during a storm, prompting H’Biang’s father to unite the tribes, allowing intermarriage in their memory. 

In remembrance, the mountain was named Lang Biang, symbolizing unity. The K’Ho people honor the couple annually with ceremonies involving buffalo sacrifices and traditional wine. 

In an alternate version of the legend, the couple secretly married and lived on the mountain. When H’Biang fell ill, K’Lang sought help from the village, but the Chil tribe, still resentful, attacked K’Lang. In a heartbreaking twist, H’Biang shielded K’Lang from a poisoned arrow, sacrificing her life for him. Devastated, K’Lang wept so bitterly that his tears formed the Da Nhim Stream, also known as the “Weeping Stream.” He eventually died from grief beside her.

Lang Biang Mountain, part of the Lang Biang Tourist Area, is open daily from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, providing ample time for exploration. Ticket prices are generally affordable, providing access to the area’s natural beauty and cultural experiences.
