  • North: Ben Cat Town and Dau Tieng District in Binh Duong Province.

1.2. History

Cu Chi District history began in 1698. Nguyen Huu Canh, under the orders of Lord Nguyen Phuc Chu, established Gia Dinh Prefecture. Cu Chi, Vietnam, was placed under Binh Duong Canton in Tan Binh District. In 1957, the Saigon government created Cu Chi District as part of Binh Duong Province.

In 1963, Cu Chi, Vietnam, was divided into two districts. Cu Chi belonged to Hau Nghia Province, and Phu Hoa was part of Binh Duong Province. In 1968, the area was further split into Nam Chi and Bac Chi districts because of the war.

After 1975, Cu Chi District was unified. It became part of Ho Chi Minh City as one administrative district, which marked its historical and strategic importance.

Linh Son Pagoda, established in 1806, was originally a small hermitage built by Monk Buu Tinh Pho Te. He chose a peaceful spot in a shady forest in Phu Loi hamlet to build the pagoda.
