3. Who is eligible for a visa on arrival in Vietnam?
To obtain a Vietnam visa on arrival, visitors must meet the following conditions:
- Are located outside Vietnam.
- Hold a valid passport or travel document and plan to enter via designated international airports.
- Not fall under categories denied entry under Article 21 of Vietnam’s immigration law, such as:

As of 2025, citizens of 15 countries (Russia, Japan, South Korea, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Sweden, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Poland, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland) can enjoy visa-free stays of 14 – 90 days.
Bilateral exemptions are in place for countries such as Belarus, Brunei, Cambodia, Chile, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Panama, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Kazakhstan. 4. How to apply for a Vietnam visa on arrival?
How to get a Vietnam visa on arrival? Follow these three simple steps to obtain a visa on arrival for Vietnam:
- Fill in your Vietnam visa on arrival application form and submit it at https://evisa.gov.vn.
- Receive your Vietnam visa approval letter via email. Print the letter and prepare the following: an entry-exit form, two passport-sized photos (4×6 cm), your original passport, and the stamping fee in cash.

For a tourist visa, the approval letter is typically issued within 1 – 2 working hours. For a business visa, it may take from 2 to 7 working days.
