In the legends of the local K’ho people, there is a captivating story of Elephant Falls Dalat. In the Joi Bieng mountains, a chieftain’s daughter possessed a voice that could enchant the entire forest. She loved the courageous son of a neighboring chieftain, admired for his valor and strength. They pledged their love, but fate intervened when he went off to battle and never returned.
Heartbroken, she sought solace atop the rugged mountain peaks, where she poured her sorrow into songs that echoed through the valleys, beckoning her lost love to return. The maiden refused to accept her lover’s fate, her melodies echoing off the land until she collapsed. Suddenly, a roar split the air and a waterfall emerged, echoing her song. The K’ho named the falls Lieng Rowoa Joi Bieng.
