2.1. Sung Sot Cave

Sung Sot Cave is the largest cave on Bo Hon Island, attracting visitors with its stunning rock formations and spacious chambers. The first chamber is wide and well-lit with a high ceiling. As you move deeper into the cave, the second chamber reveals unique rock formations shaped like mythical creatures, all illuminated by colorful lights. The natural beauty of Sung Sot Cave, combined with its impressive size, makes it one of the must-see attractions in Ha Long Bay.

2.2. Trong Cave – Trinh Nu Cave

Trong Cave and Trinh Nu Cave in Ha Long Bay are two well-known caves on Bo Hon Island, located just 700 meters apart. Their beauty is matched by a touching local legend about love.

According to the tale, a beautiful young woman from a fishing village caught the attention of a wealthy landowner. He wanted to force her into marriage, but she refused because she was already in love with a fisherman. Furious, the landowner banished her to a deserted island. She eventually collapsed and turned to stone. This place later became Trinh Nu Cave.

Meanwhile, the fisherman returned from the sea and learned what had happened. He set out to find her, but his boat was wrecked in a storm. Washed ashore on a nearby island, he saw the shape of his beloved in the distance. Desperate, he struck the cave walls with a rock, hoping she would hear him. He continued until his hands bled, but exhaustion overtook him, and he also turned to stone. This place was later named Trong Cave.

On stormy days, the wind passing through Trong Cave creates deep echoes that sound like drum beats. The locals believe this is a symbol of the couple’s eternal love. Today, these caves are natural wonders that hold a special place in Ha Long Bay’s folklore.

2.3. Luon Cave

Luon Cave is known for its distinctive shape. Unlike other caves in the area, Luon Cave is accessible without climbing. It stretches about 60 meters in length, with a ceiling height that varies between 2.5 and 4 meters depending on the tides. What makes Luon Cave even more special is its wildlife. This cave is home to a population of endangered golden monkeys. Many travelers come not only to admire the cave’s natural beauty but also to catch a glimpse of these rare primates in their natural habitat.

2.4. Bo Nau Cave

According to the local fishermen, Bo Nau Cave was once a resting place for pelicans migrating from the north. Originally called “Bồ Nông,” its name gradually evolved into “Bồ Nâu.” This name also reflects the reddish-brown color of the cave’s stalactites, which resemble the feathers of the pelicans that once inhabited the area.

Bo Nau Cave spans approximately 1,000 square meters, which is significantly larger than other caves in Ha Long Bay. Near the entrance, visitors can find stalactites resembling a horse and a long sword. According to legend, after defeating invaders, Saint Giong helped the locals drive away evil spirits. He ascended to the heavens and left behind his sword and horse to protect the land.

The entrance of Bo Nau Cave has a vaulted, seashell-like shape, creating a unique enclosed space that resembles the ceiling of a grand theater. Upon stepping inside, visitors are greeted by a massive stalactite column stretching from the ceiling to the floor, which adds to the cave’s majestic atmosphere.

2.5. Ho Dong Tien Cave

Ho Dong Tien Cave, located on the eastern side of Bo Hon Island, covers an area of about 650 square meters. Deep within the cave lies a small lake surrounded by towering limestone formations.

According to legend, this secluded spot was once a favorite gathering place for celestial maidens, who would descend in the late afternoon to relax by the water. Inspired by this tale, the locals named it Ho Dong Tien Cave, meaning “Fairy Lake Cave.”

This cave is a remnant of an ancient karst system and is classified as a fossil cave. The stalactites and stalagmites inside are remarkably intricate, appearing as though sculpted by nature’s hand.
