Visitors can explore the historical site where former Prime Minister Pham Van Dong was held prisoner in 1930-1931. Hon Ba, the third-largest island in the archipelago, spans an area of 576 hectares. 2.4. Dam Trau Beach

The secluded Dam Trau Beach has become one of Con Dao’s most captivating attractions due to its unique location in a forest. The locals often refer to it as Suoi Nong Beach (Hot Stream Beach) because the water temperature at its source remains around 50°C year-round. To reach it, visitors will have to trek through the dense forest, so it is best to visit during dry weather as the path can become slippery in the rain. The ideal time to visit Dam Trau Beach is from March to September. This is when the weather is dry and favorable for swimming and exploring the surrounding landscape. 

2.5. Bai Nhat Beach

Bai Nhat is a popular name among Con Dao beaches. It is known for pebbles stacked along the shoreline, which offer a picturesque setting especially at sunset. From the beach, visitors can see the Love Peak on Hon Ba Island. Nearby, there is a memorial site honoring the 198 prisoners who attempted to escape from Con Dao in 1952. Although unsuccessful, their attempt symbolized the will of resistance against French colonial rule. Many tourists stop by this site to pay their respect, burning incense as a tribute to these prisoners.

2.6. Hon Tre Islands

The Hon Tre Islands, consisting of Hon Tre Lon Island and Hon Tre Nho Island, offer unique eco-tourism experiences on the Con Dao map.   • The Residence of the Island Governor: This was the residence for 53 successive island governors, who were responsible for overseeing prison operations.
  • The Pier: This was where prisoners set foot on the island, marking the beginning of their painful journey. 
  • The Cow Shed: This isolated area was used as both a forced labor site and a place of punishment for prisoners.
  • Hang Duong Cemetery: As the final resting place of thousands of Vietnamese patriots, Hang Duong Cemetery is a solemn site where visitors can pay their respect to those who lost their lives in Con Dao.
