2. Opening hours and ticket fees of Thung Nham Bird Park

  • Opening hours:
    • In summer: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
    • In winter: 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Prices of Thung Nham Bird Park tickets:
    • Adults: 150,000 VND
    • Children (1 – 1.3 meters tall): 100,000 VND
    • Children under 1 meter tall: Free of charge

3. How to get to Thung Nham Bird Park in Ninh Binh?

From Hanoi to Ninh Binh, to reach Thung Nham Bird Park, travelers can either go by motorbike or coach.

  • By coach: From Hanoi, you can take a coach to Ninh Binh at Giap Bat Bus Station. Upon arriving at Ninh Binh Bus Station, take a motorbike taxi or taxi to the park. The coach fare to Ninh Binh ranges from 70,000 to 90,000 VND. The taxi fare from Ninh Binh Bus Station to the park is approximately 50,000 VND.
  • By motorbike: From Hanoi, follow National Road 1A until you reach a large T-junction with a big signpost that says Thung Nham, then turn right. Continue past Tam Coc, heading towards Bich Dong Pagoda. Near the pagoda, there is another T-junction. Turn left following the signpost. From there, continue straight to reach Thung Nham Bird Park.

4. Things to do on your trip to Thung Nham Bird Park

4.1. Enjoy a boat tour around Thung Nham Bird Park

Tourists can embark on a serene boat tour to explore Thung Nham Bird Sanctuary. Considering Ninh Binh weather, the best time to visit the bird park is during autumn, around 5 PM when the birds return from foraging. Alternatively, you can visit between 5 – 7 AM or 4 – 6 PM to witness the birds in flight, or 2 – 3 PM to return to Hanoi on the same day.

Those with ample time can explore other attractions in Thung Nham Ecotourism Area. These include Vai Gioi Cave, But Cave, Mermaid Cave, and the Moving Banyan Tree.

  • Vai Gioi Cave: Situated on a high mountain, this cave spans approximately 5,000m2 and is filled with enchanting stalactites. Visitors to Thung Nham Bird Park almost always explore this cave. To reach Vai Gioi Cave, after passing through the entrance for 500 meters, turn right to ascend to the cave. After conquering 439 stone steps, visitors will reach the cave entrance.
  • But Cave: This stone cave, measuring 500 meters in length, has beautiful rock formations resembling an old man sitting by an underground stream. The cave is dark, so visitors are advised to bring flashlights for exploration.
  • Mermaid Cave: With a length of over 1,500 meters, Mermaid Cave boasts stunning limestone formations of many extraordinary shapes, resembling exquisite paintings crafted by nature. The cave has a legend about a mermaid turning into stone, hence its name.
  • Moving Banyan Tree: This thousand-year-old ancient banyan tree has curiously moved three times around an ancient temple. Experts estimate that each movement lasted over 300 years.
