Quang Duc Pagoda, a historic gem in Can Tho, captivates with its unique architecture and rare tranquility.
1.1. Location
The pagoda, situated at 146 Mau Than Street in An Phu Ward, Ninh Kieu District, is conveniently located in the heart of Can Tho City. You can take a taxi, a motorbike taxi, or use your vehicle to reach this sacred temple.
If you are starting from Ninh Kieu Wharf, head south on Hai Ba Trung Street. Then, turn right onto Nguyen Thai Hoc Street. Continue straight and turn left onto Hoa Binh Street. Proceed until you reach 30 Thang 4 Street, then turn right onto Mau Than Street. Quang Duc Pagoda will be on your right.

1.2. History
Quang Duc Pagoda was established by Venerable Thich Buu Lai in 1958 and underwent a complete restoration in 2006. Since then, the pagoda has been meticulously maintained and preserved. The temple now serves as a vibrant spiritual hub for the local community.

Quang Duc Pagoda is a striking representation of Southern Vietnamese temple design, featuring a vibrant yellow entrance gate marked with its name. Inside, you will find a Laughing Buddha statue in front of the main hall, alongside an Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva statue.
The main hall showcases intricate carvings of the Buddha and dragons, along with a golden plaque reading “Quang Duc Pagoda.” Further inside, a gilded statue of Amitabha Buddha graces the altar, and the upper level holds another shrine for Amitabha and a Thousand-Handed Avalokiteshvara statue.
The pagoda’s stupa, located to the left of the grounds, mirrors the main hall’s architecture with three tiers and a dragon-carved top, while the back features a golden depiction of the Bodhi tree, lotus flowers, and a poem on Buddhist teachings translated from Chinese.
