1. Introduction to Long Khanh Pagoda, Quy Nhon

Long Khanh Pagoda is a famous spiritual tourist destination in Quy Nhon, Binh Dinh Province. Located at 141 Tran Cao Van Street, Le Loi Ward, the pagoda was founded in 1700 by Master Duc Son – a Chinese monk, and has stood for over 300 years. It is one of the oldest temples in Binh Dinh, witnessing many historical ups and downs.

2. Impressive architecture of Long Khanh Pagoda

When visiting Long Khanh Pagoda in Quy Nhon, tourists are impressed by its distinctive and outstanding architecture. Built in the shape of the Chinese character “口” (mouth), the pagoda resembles Southern Chinese temples’ architectural style. At the front is the main hall, consisting of the Upper Hall and the Rear Hall. On either side are the East and West rooms for monks, while behind is the Ancestor Hall, honoring the founders.

The Upper Hall houses statues of Amitabha Buddha and Guan Yin, with two roofs made of terracotta tiles, topped with dragon sculptures. The three doors, crafted from precious wood, are intricately carved and adorned with gold lacquer.

The Rear Hall, which is connected to the Upper Hall, enshrines a statue of Shakyamuni Buddha. The hall features a layered roof with dragon carvings and houses a 1.5-meter-tall bronze statue of the Buddha, weighing over 1,200 kilograms.

Stepping through the Tam Quan gate made of stone with yin-yang tiled roofs, visitors enter the serene courtyard, where a 17-meter-tall statue of Amitabha Buddha stands on a lotus pedestal, facing a lotus pond surrounded by greenery.

The pagoda grounds also contain an ancient stupa garden, with some stupas dating back centuries.

The presence of numerous statues and valuable relics, such as the 1.5-meter ancient wooden statue of Dien Nhien Dai Si, the Thousand-armed and Thousand-eyed Guan Yin, and the statue of Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, further enhances the peaceful and solemn ambiance. The pagoda also preserves the “Thai Binh Hong Chung” bell, cast in 1805 during the Gia Long era, and a symbolic plaque inscribed with “Long Khanh Tu” from 1813.
