Military Zone 9 Museum is a military history museum located at No. 6, Hoa Binh Boulevard, Ninh Kieu Ward, Can Tho (formerly Tan An Ward, Ninh Kieu District). Officially established on December 21, 1979, it now operates under the management of the Political Department of Military Zone 9. The museum preserves and displays documents and artifacts that highlight the formation, combat history, and development of the Southwestern armed forces – Military Zone 9 – during Vietnam’s liberation, reunification, and national defense. It is also known as the Museum of the Armed Forces of the Mekong Delta.

To get to Military Zone 9 Museum from Can Tho International Airport, follow Vo Van Kiet Street. After 6 kilometers, turn left onto Nguyen De Street. At the end of Nguyen De Street, turn right onto Cach Mang Thang 8 Street. Keep going along Cach Mang Thang 8 Street, then Nguyen Trai Street. At the end of Nguyen Trai Street, turn right onto Hoa Binh Boulevard and go straight until you see the museum on the right.

For convenience, tourists can hail a taxi or motorbike taxi to get to the museum. In particular, the XANH SM taxi service now operates in Can Tho, providing an eco-friendly and user-friendly travel option.

Besides taxis, tourists can also reach Military Zone 9 Museum by bus. The bus 01 (Ba Lang – O Mon) runs along Hoa Binh Boulevard. This option offers a budget-friendly way to travel around the city.

3.1. Museum of Mekong Delta Armored Forces

This exhibition is thoughtfully divided into three main themes:

  • An introduction to the Mekong Delta: Boasting insights into the land and spirit of its people.
  • The resistance against French colonialism (1945 – 1954): Highlighting the struggles and sacrifices of the region’s armed forces and civilians.
  • The war against American intervention (1955 – 1975): Showcasing the unwavering determination of the Mekong Delta in the fight for national reunification.

3.2. Ho Chi Minh Museum

This exhibition honors the legacy of President Ho Chi Minh, consisting of two themes:

  • The life and career of President Ho Chi Minh: Tracing his enduring impact on the country.
  • Mutual devotion between Ho Chi Minh and the South: Capturing his love for the region and the heartfelt gratitude of the Mekong Delta’s people, with a special display on “Studying and Following President Ho Chi Minh’s Moral Example.”
