Da Den beach is on the north shore of Son Tra Peninsula. Despite being only about a one-hour-boat-ride away from Da Nang city, it is incredibly pristine. There are many large black rocks that are stacked together here, adding to the wild beauty of this beach.

  • Ban Co Peak

Legend has it that there were two deities playing chess on Son Tra Mountain for many days but the winner couldn’t be decided. One day, distracted by fairies who flew down onto the beach to take a bath, one of them lost the game. Out of fury, he threw the chessboard into the sea and flew back to Heaven.

The locals then had carved a large chess board on the rock and built the statue of a deity, named De Thich, sitting alone in front of the chessboard and thinking carefully about his next moves.

  • The thousand-year banyan tree

The banyan tree, located 17 kilometers away from the city center, is one of the highlights of Son Tra Peninsula. It is estimated to be almost 1,000 years old. Its complex of roots has grown to create additional trunks, supporting the massive tree from the center.

Besides being a great attraction, the giant banyan tree also makes a great stop for a short rest. On days with clear skies, you can also see Da Nang, Cham Islands, and the whole Son Tra Peninsula from the location of this tree.

Red-shanked Douc is a very shy monkey that dislikes human interaction. Hiding in the foliage, the monkeys will stop their movements and look around when they hear human voices. They will only continue playing and seeking food when they feel safe. Therefore, when coming here, remember to go quietly and keep your distance to let them know that you are not a threat. Note that paragliding in Da Nang is not a service or part of the tour. This activity is hosted by Danang Paragliding Club. 4.2. How to get to Son Tra Peninsula?

The best way to visit and explore Son Tra is by renting a motorbike in Da Nang or Hoi An, as some of the roads, like the one leading to the banyan tree, are hardly accessible for a car.

Driving a motorbike through this area is a wonderful experience. There is almost no traffic, the roads are in good condition, which makes it safe to drive, and there are beautiful wildflowers waiting for you along the roads. However, remember that your bike should have good brakes and are strong enough to ride up steep hills.

  • From the center of Da Nang city: Starting from Da Nang city center, head across the Han River Bridge, go for two kilometers to the beach, take a left, head north. From there, the road hugs the coast of the peninsula.
  • From Hoi An Ancient Town: Take Truong Sa street – Vo Nguyen Giap street – Hoang Sa street – Son Tra Peninsula.
